Hey Howdy Hi

davis_county_courthouse_bloomfieldIt’s me again! This week I wanna talk about what we are missing out on in good old Davis County. You think Davis County has it all, right? (I can hear your sarcasm) Actually, Davis County has a lot more going on then you might think!

Most of the little towns surrounding Bloomfield have events that take place throughout the year. Pulaski has the Corn Show, Floris has Flag Day, and Drakesville has the Reunion. These are just to name a few of the events. Davis County Old Soldiers and Settlers Reunion

Bloomfield Main Street helps coordinate lots of awesome events that are held on the Historic Square! To check out what will be coming up, you can follow this link to the website Main Street Events

The Bloomfield Fairgrounds holds most of the Davis County events; Mt. Dew Speedway Races on Saturday nights, Car shows throughout the summer

When you think of Davis County ya always think about the Davis County Fair. This year is the 150th Davis County Fair. We have been lucky enough to get some awesome up and coming artists before they hit it big! This year, Casey James will be performing on Thursday (he sings “Crying on a suitcase.”) If you haven’t got your tickets yet, don’t worry! You can still get them! Get your tickets here!

Fort Bloomfield Rodeo is always a big deal round here… Team roping, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, barrels, calf roping, steer wrestling, and bull riding always bring home the kids for some family time at the rodeo!

Ok, I have to admit, I kinda like this one! The IDMS Annual State Show, which will be held August 24-25th of this year. IDMS stands for Iowa Donkey and Mule Society. If you are looking for something different, check out this show! Saturday’s events include a panty hose race! It is sure to make you chuckle, or at least crack a smile! IDMS

Don’t forget that old timey music of our childhood! The sweet sounds of bluegrass. The Davis County Country & Old Time Music Festival. September 20th-22th 2013! I personally think that during this festival that the population of Bloomfield triples for the week because many artists bring their campers and RVs and stay all week!

If none of this tickles your fancy then I don’t know what to tell ya! Davis County has the theater, an art gallery, Many amish businesses, a technology solution center (MPA), ice cream shop, beautiful Lake Wapello State Park, and of course plenty of places to eat!

So instead of going to Ottumwa, Centerville or Des Moines, think outside of the box in good old Davis County.

Bet ya didn’t know Davis County had all of this neat stuff~
